Here are some of the restaurants and warungs I have been to. The list is not in any particular order, I just add restaurants as they spring to mind

Dapurku Ubud

Although it’s been around for about a year, I have only recently “found” it, which is crazy, since I walk past the place a number of times each week.

Good food, good price, and good atmosphere – what more do you want?

At lunch time there is a bufett and the price depends on how many different dishes you can fit on your plate – I usually stop at 4 or 5, which comes to about Rp25.000 plus Rp5.000 for an ice tea.

In the evening it’s a la carte, but I haven’t tried it yet, as I don’t like walking around Ubud after dark – not because of any safety issues, but because the sidewalks are in a shocking state of disrepair.  There is currently some work being carried out to rectify the situation.

 Waroeng Made Becik

I simply love this place!

Waroeng Made Becik is a little out of the Ubud centre, in Jl Tirta Tawar, just before you get to the Ubud Botanical Gardens. This warung is in a lovely location, with rice field view, and a welcome, cool breeze. The menu offers a choice of local dishes,  all freshly cooked and/or fresh from the bbq. Very tasty and nicely served. My friend had the best pork ribs in Bali at this warung, and my freshly grilled  fish, was absolutely delish, in fact it was so good that I was tempted to order another one!

Prices are very reasonable indeed.

Since this is quite a small place, please make a reservation by phoning 0361-9000576, especially if you would like to bring a group.

 Warung Mangga Madu

This is a favourite lunch or dinner stop for many locals and visitors alike, and I usually stop here once or twice a week when doing my grocery shopping nearby.

There is a large menu, and the food is tasty and very reasonably priced.

  Sari Organik

This a restaurant I won’t be returning to. Having looked forward to coming here for quite some time, I was disappointed by the service, the food, and the lack of hygiene. Prices are quite steep. You can see my full review on trip advisor.
